Karnali is one of the 14 zones of Nepal which lies in the north-west region from Kathmandu, the capital city. Among the 14 zones of Nepal, Karnali is the biggest zone which prides in having two national parks: Shey-Phoksundo National Park & Rara National Park. The former’s name comes from the name of the monastery – Shey Gompa and Nepal’s deepest lake Phoksundo Lake while the later’s name is taken from Nepal’s largest lake Rara.
