Everest Region has always fascinated and attracted thousands of tourists since the commencement of the tourism industry in Nepal. After the first ascent of Mt. Everest on May 29, 1953, by Sir Edmund Hillary & Tenzing Norgay Sherpa, the Everest region started to draw the attention to the mountain lovers from around the globe.
Tenzing-Hillary Airport in Lukla is serving the people of this region being the only airport in the Everest region. Lukla is also known as the gateway to Everest. Usually, all the treks to Everest Base Camp start from here. Another important village of this region is Namche Bazaar also known as the Sherpa Capital.
