Black Saturday (25.04.2015)
A massive earthquake hit Nepal on 25 April and 12 May, 2015 killing more than 9,000 people; injuring thousands and leaving thousands of people homeless. The photographs from Bhaktapur were taken the same day (25 April) and others were taken later in Laprak village, Gorkha which was near to one of the epicenters of the earthquake.
We flew there by helicopter carrying food supplies & tarpaulins (approx. 3,000 kgs). The whole village was devastated by the earthquake & the people had moved to Gupsi Danda for a temporary shelter.
Nepal is geographically divided into 3 parts and each part has its own unique landscape, vegetation, climate, people, etc. Most tourists come to visit Nepal for Everest & Annapurna but these are not the only destinations that Nepal has to offer. There are also other beautiful places stretching from south to north and east to west. Discover Nepal is here to help you discover and show these places through my lens.
Everest Region has always fascinated and attracted thousands of tourists since the commencement of the tourism industry in Nepal. After the first ascent of Mt. Everest on May 29, 1953 by Sir Edmund Hillary & Tenzing Norgay Sherpa, Everest region started to draw attention of the mountain lovers from around the globe.
Tenzing-Hillary Airport in Lukla is serving the people of this region being the only airport in the Everest region. Lukla is also known as the gateway to Everest. Usually, all the treks to Everest Base Camp starts from here. Another important village of this region is Namche Bazaar also known as the Sherpa Capital.

Karnali is one of the 14 zones of Nepal which lies in north-west region from Kathmandu, capital city. Among the 14 zones of Nepal, Karnali is the biggest zone which prides in having two national parks: Shey-Phoksundo National Park & Rara National Park. The former’s name comes from the name of the monastery – Shey Gompa and the Nepal’s deepest lake Phoksundo Lake while the later’s name is taken from the Nepal’s largest lake Rara. Every year, hundreds of tourists come to see & experience the unique landscapes and the cultural richness that this region has to offer. The famous destinations for trek in Karnali regions are Dolpo, Rara, Humla, Jumla and more.
